Gustav's in Vancouver is looking to add a few new culinary professionals to our amazing team. 
Our ideal candidate can maintain their station and present quality product during peak volume periods, an important quality as our restaurants are high volume with even higher standards. 
You are passionate about creating exceptional dining experiences through good, quality food. With previous experience as a cook, you are able to manage multiple priorities and contribute to a friendly and productive team atmosphere. 
Gustav's is a locally owned German Restaurant that has become an institution in the Portland/Vancouver area for the last 30 years. Quality food has always been a focus at Gustav's since its inception and we are looking for like-minded professionals to keep that spirit alive! 
NW Hospitality Group has recently acquired the legendary Gustav's with the intention of keeping the restaurant around for years to come! You may know us from our other local establishments, Amaro's Table and Cecilia. We are excited to take on this new venture and are looking for hospitality and culinary professionals to join our team!  Our brand is already known for our impeccable service, delicious food and an amazing quality.

Responsibilities: 
  •  Assumes 100% responsibility for quality of products served. 
  • Complete opening and closing checklists. 
  • Refer to Daily Prep List and Checklists at the start of each shift for assigned duties. 
  • Know and comply consistently with our standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen and property wide rules, policies and procedures. 
  • Stocks and maintains sufficient levels of food products at line stations to assure a smooth service period. 
  • Portions food products prior to cooking according to standard portion sizes and recipe specifications. 
  • Maintains a clean and sanitary work station area including tables, shelves, grills, broilers, fryers, pasta cookers, sauté burners, convection oven, flat top range and refrigeration equipment. 
  • Prepares item for broiling, grilling, frying, sautéing or other cooking methods by portioning, battering, breading, seasoning and/or marinating. Follows proper plate presentation and garnish set up for all dishes according to build sheets. 
  • Handles, stores and rotates all products properly. Assists in food prep assignments during off-peak periods as needed.
  • Opens or Closes the kitchen properly and follows the checklists and prep sheets for kitchen stations. 
  • Complete any other tasks or directives issued by your Manager or Superiors in a polite, timely and accurate manner.
Qualifications: 
  • Previous experience as a restaurant cook 
  • ServeSafe or Food Handler’s certification (or must be willing to attain)
  • Effective communication skills 
  • Ability to lift 30+ lbs 
  • Ability to work standing for 8+ hours

Compensation: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
